We have movement! And a little more!
It has begun!
Its been 4 days since I planted my flag here in the indie space. And over this time I have achieved a surprising amount! I have gotten my little cube guy to move and dash and I have mostly working collision, I even have a counter that tells me when battles have been triggered.

For movement, I am going for a Wild Arms style approach.

You might not be able to see it too well yet, but there is a small dash-wind up pause when you hit the dash button, and then you rocket off in the direction that you were pushing. I am currently trying to make it so that when you hit the wall when dashing, you do this little recoil bounce. I always remembered having fun running into walls in Wild Arms. When I got the dash function working, seeing that iconic little pause before dashing actually work in execution made me tear up a bit, it may not look like much now, but this is the farthest I have ever been.
